Six Arizona State runners qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships, which is two more than last season after 2024’s squad only sent one athlete who qualified for an individual event.

The highest seed will be sophomore Jayden Davis, who is ranked No. 2 in the nation in the men’s 400m dash following his incredible 45.06 performance at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Lubbock, Texas.

Not only was it a personal record by nearly a full half-second, but Davis also broke the school record in the event.

Davis is also, as expected, a member of the 4x400m relay team that also qualified for nationals, alongside senior Dayton Carlson and star freshmen Mateo Medina and Malik Franklin.

In Lubbock, the 4×400 squad ran at full strength for the first time since mid-January, finishing 0.36 seconds behind Baylor. They peaked at 3:04.01 in that mid-January meet, putting them in a tie with USC as the fourth-fastest school in the country.

Carlson also qualified for nationals in the 800m dash, with his 1:46.39 in New Mexico at the end of January earning him the No. 7 ranking.

Carlson and Davis are both familiar with the national stage, qualifying for nationals in the outdoor season in 2024, Davis also is a member of the 2024 indoor national championship team.

Senior Adriana Tatum, who is also no stranger to the national stage, is ASU’s final qualifier, using her school-record-breaking 22.76 in Lubbock to tie for the No. 9 spot in the women’s 200m dash.

The 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships will be held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on March 14 and 15.
