ASU Women’s Basketball: Sun Devils get set for Stanford

The No. 18 Arizona State University women’s basketball team is looking to split the season series, and avoid a sweep, with conference foe No. 10 Stanford.

ASU lost their conference opener against Stanford back in December, 57-64.

However, the Sun Devils have been on a roll ever since that loss. They have won every game since then by double digits, except for their recent loss against the University of Washington. In that game Kelsey Plum, the NCAA leading scorer, recorded 34 points and shot just under 50 percent.

The women are averaging 13 more points than their opponents in the last six games. This can be credited to the outstanding defense, as they have forced 17 turnovers and three blocks in the last game alone.

A win against Stanford would be great for the Sun Devils, as they are only trailing first place in the conference by a single game. Right now Stanford and No. 11 Oregon State are tied for first place with records of 6-1. Arizona State and No. 13 UCLA are right behind them with a record of 5-2.

Arizona State will need even scoring throughout the team, like they have had in their last few games, and great defense to beat top ranked Stanford in California.

ASU and Stanford will tip off at 4:00 p.m. MST at the Maples Pavilion. The game will be available on Pac-12 Networks.
