UNLV not a trap game for the Sun Devils

After coming off a big win against Chapman last week the Sun Devils take on the UNLV Rebels before they take on the top two teams in the MCLA: Colorado and Colorado State.

“We haven’t talked about Colorado or Colorado State at all,” said goalie Chris DeLuca. “We’re just focused on UNLV and getting the job done.”

DeLuca and the rest of the team are keeping focused on Saturday because of the leadership by the captains who contributed a lot to last week’s win against Chapman.

“I think [the captains] got this team dialed in,” ASU head coach Chris Malone said. “First time we beat Chapman in the regular season since I’ve been here. We started out fast and the captains knew we needed to start out faster than we have in the past so we did that. I’m happy with how they are and how we’re doing.”

Senior captain Logan Quinn is currently second in scoring on the team. His leadership, along with the rest of the captains, keeps the team focused on the tasks ahead.

“One of our goals is a perfect season, so obviously for us to accomplish that we’ve got to look at every game specifically we can’t be looking towards next week,” Quinn said.  “Obviously next week is harder competition but right now we’re focusing on Las Vegas and coming out with a W.”

It’s safe to say that this UNLV game is not a trap game for this Sun Devil lacrosse team. Coach Malone, the captains and the rest of the squad are all reminding each other to focus on the Rebels.

“We’re definitely thinking about [next weekend], but we want to kill UNLV so we go in with a good attitude and go in with confidence against Colorado and Colorado State,” DeLuca said. “We know we can play with them and we just got to build confidence on Saturday and make sure we get the job done.”
