During a nearly 20-day break for the Arizona State women’s golf team, four of its seven members on the women’s roster headed to Singapore to compete in the 2025 Amateur Team Championships.

Unlike the standard three-round format in collegiate golf, the battle for the Espirito Santo Trophy at Tanah Merah Country Club was a four-round tournament like you would see on the LPGA Tour almost any given weekend.

Junior Beth Coulter led the way for all Sun Devils at the tournament, shooting even par through the four-day event and placing tied for 31st. This included a three-under par round in the final, which saw her convert five birdies and go bogey-free through the first 14 holes.

Coulter was there representing her home country of Ireland, which finished with a one-under-par team score for the tournament and placed tied for 15th. She was also the driving force of the team, finishing three strokes ahead of Ireland’s second-place finisher.

Next up for the Sun Devils were preseason All-American redshirt sophomore Patience Rhodes and junior Paula Schulz-Hanssen, who both shot one-over-par for all four rounds. This allowed both to finish tied for 35th on the individual leaderboard.

Rhodes and Schulz-Hanssen were very consistent throughout the tournament, never shooting over 75 or three-over-par for a singular round, but also never shooting under 70 or two-under-par.

Rhodes’ home country of Great Britain finished the best of any nation represented by a Sun Devil, shooting an impressive team score of 16-under-par for the tournament, allowing them to tie for fourth place in the 36-country field.

Schulz-Hanssen represented her home country of Germany, leading the way for all three of the German golfers in the prestigious tournament. The Germans were the least successful of any Sun Devil home country, mustering up a team score of eight-over-par for the four days and finishing tied for 21st on the team leaderboard.

The final member of the Sun Devils who represented her country at the 2025 Amateur Team Championships was freshman Pimpisa Rubrong of Thailand. Rubrong put on a resilient outing after back-to-back 77’s in the first two rounds.

She battled back with a one-under par 71 in round three before shooting a slightly disappointing 75, four-over-par in round four.

All of that put together had the freshmen land tied 70th in the 108-woman field with a 12-over-par score. Her country, Thailand, finished 20th on the team leaderboard with a six-over-par team score.

The Sun Devils will now head back to Tempe to get ready for the Stanford Intercollegiate on Oct. 17-19, where they will face one of the strongest fields in the nation.
