Halle Harker is a 5’5” freshman libero from Bakersfield, California (Liberty High School). She tallied up 731 digs her senior year and was also named First-Team All-Southwest Yosemite League in 2013.
Q: For you personally, coming into your freshman year, what do you think you bring to this squad?
A: I think I bring something new. I mean, I never obviously met us or played with us before so something new, a new player – a different personality. I would say personality, most, and heart.
Q: What are your personal expectations for yourself this season? What do you want to accomplish?
A: I definitely want to be the best teammate. I want to work the hardest. I want to be the best that I can be for my teammates. I really want to play and just give as much as I can to the team.
Q: I was talking to coach Jason Watson earlier, and he’s very high on you about taking that libero spot to replace Stephanie Preach. Is there any pressure to step into those shoes or are you just trying to play your own game and pay it no mind?
A: It’s not really pressure, it’s just opportunity. It’s like I have so much to – not prove – but so much to obviously live up to and the shoes to fill, but I know I’m ready for it and prepared for it. I’m super excited for a new beginning and just new everything.
