ASU Baseball: Sun Devils look to bounce back against Cal State Fullerton in midweek matchup

The past several games have not been kind to Arizona State.

Following an eye-opening sweep over the Oregon ducks, the Devils have lost five of their last seven.

Their latest skid, featured a series loss against the stumbling Washington State Cougars in Pullman.

The Devils will host the Cal State Fullerton Titans at home for a two-game midweek mini series.

The Titans come in losing four of their last fives games, including a two game losing streak in Southern California against UCSB.

For the Sun Devils coming in to the series with a record of 13-14 (5-4 Pac-12), these two games are important opportunities for a team that struggled against arguably the worst team in the Pac-12.

Although the win column has been inconsistent for ASU, the offensive prowess has not.

In the past 10 games for ASU, they have scored three runs or more in all but one.

CSF, led by head coach Rick Vanderhook, currently holds a 10-15 record in 2018. Under Vanderhook the Titans have had 30 plus win seasons.

A couple top players to watch for on the Fullerton squad are junior outfielder Ruben Cardenas and sophomore catcher Daniel Cope.

Cardenas enters with a five-game hitting streak. The sophomore leads all the team in batting average (.293) and runs scored (15).

Cope may be the strongest Titan swinger. The 6-foot-0 righty has three jacks, and leads the team in RBIs with 12 on the season.

Senior utility man Taylor Lane has been much more active lately for the Maroon and Gold. Lane notched five hits in Pullman and has emerged as now regular in the lineup.

First pitch on both Tuesday and Wednesday night is set for 6:30 pm MST.
