Arizona State sophomore guard Jahii Carson was named a second team All-American Thursday afternoon by the Sporting News.
This comes after Chad Ford of ESPN ranked Carson 24th on his big board for the NBA draft and 28th in his mock draft to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Carson had 18.3 points alongside 5.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game in his first season in Tempe to earn Pac-12 co-Freshman of the Year honors and led all freshmen in the country in scoring.
He capped off last season with an impressive 34-point effort in the Pac-12 tournament, his third 30-point game last season and the most by a freshman in Pac-12 tournament history. Among his other accolades, he’s sixth on the Sun Devil single-season assist list, and ranked second in the country last year in both minutes per game and free throws made.
The speedy point guard impressed many scouts at the Adidas Nations camp this past Summer and has unofficially announced over Twitter his intentions to head to the NBA draft after this season.
