Arizona State Wrestling’s first road trip continued Sunday with the Journeymen Collegiate Classic in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where many positive performances up and down head coach Zeke Jones’ roster shed light on the team’s No. 6 ranking.
125-pound freshman Richard Figueroa, 133-pound senior Michael McGee and 165-pound junior Tony Negron went a combined 9-0 across their matches, which included Figueroa’s 13-1 major-decision victory over Harvard sophomore Diego Sotelo and McGee pin of Harvard senior Beau Bayless.
Outside of the Sun Devils’ marquee performers, though, several other standout performers emerged.
157-pound freshman Michael Kilic arguably displayed the most dominant performance of anyone in an ASU uniform, finishing 3-0 with two technical-fall wins: the scores 16-0, 18-3 and 11-2 were read at the conclusion of his three matchups.
A pair of sophomores, 149-pound Kyle Parco and 133-pound Julian Chlebove, also chipped in two wins apiece, while 141-pound sophomore Jesse Vasquez pinned Bloomsburg senior Josh Mason in seemingly impressive fashion.
