ASU Womens Basketball: Sun Devils looking to rebound against Ducks

After four straight losses, the Arizona State women’s basketball team has been struggling mightily. No. 23 Arizona State is now in desperate need for a bounce back game against the 15-8 Oregon Ducks.

Over the last four games the Sun Devils have lost by an average of nearly 11 points.

In this drastic slump Arizona State has only shot 37 percent from the field.

The schedule has been hard for ASU over this losing streak, as they have played top ranked team No. 8 Stanford, No. 11 Oregon State and No. 13 UCLA. They also dropped a game to the 12-10 USC Trojans who are only 3-8 in Pac-12 play.

The Ducks, however, have won five of their last eight games with their only loses to UCLA and Oregon State twice. Oregon is coming off a 79-65 win against the Arizona Wildcats. In that game, Oregon had four players scoring in double-digits with Ruthy Hebard leading the way with 22 points while shooting 90% on only 10 shots.

Oregon has been very successful on offense this season as they’ve scored 73.3 points a game. They’re lead by the scoring machines Hebard (14.9 points per game), Sabrina Ionescu (13.5) and Lexi Bando (11).

ASU will have to force turnovers and get blocks to throw off the high scoring offense.

Arizona State is now tied for fifth place with Oregon in the Pac-12 standings. Both teams are 5-6 in conference play and are five games behind Oregon State and Stanford who lead the Pac-12 at 10-1 right now.

The Sun Devils and the Ducks will tip off at 12:00 p.m. MST at the Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe. The game will be available on Pac-12 Networks.
