After splitting their last two games on the road, the Sun Devils will return home and try to build some momentum heading into the Pac-12 tournament.
After defeating Colorado, ASU (19-9, 9-7) suffered a disappointing five-point loss to Utah despite having senior forward Ja’Tavia Tapley, senior guard Reili Richardson, senior guard Robbi Ryan and freshman forward Eboni Walker all score in double digits.
The Utes ultimately pulled away due to their consistent free throw shooting and never looked back as they defeated the Sun Devils 75-71.
Now, the Sun Devils will be looking to right the ship as they return home to take on California (10-17, 2-14) on Friday and No. 4 Stanford (24-4, 13-3) on Sunday.
Even though the Golden Bears have only won two Pac-12 games, if ASU takes this game lightly it could be a recipe for disaster.
Senior guard Jaelyn Brown is the only Golden Bear averaging double-digit points, but she has been hot as of late. In her last seven games she is averaging 17.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
Then on Sunday, ASU will face off against one of the best teams in the country in Stanford.
The Cardinal will be led by their three headed monster that is junior guard Kiana Williams, sophomore guard Lexie Hull and freshman guard Haley Jones.
All three of these players are averaging above 11.4 points per game and have been essential to this team’s success.
This weekend could be crucial to the Sun Devil’s seed in the Pac-12 tournament and Sunday is senior night so the ASU has plenty of motivation heading into this weekend.
Tip-off against California is at 8 p.m. MST, while Sunday’s game versus Stanford will begin at 12 p.m. MST.
