Arizona State’s Promise Amukamara received Pac-12 Player of the Week honors after an impressive weekend in Los Angeles.
Amukamara was vital to both of this past weekend’s victories as she averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
In Arizona State’s 68-56 win over UCLA on Friday night, Amukamara tallied 11 points, nine of which she scored in the Sun Devils’ second-half comeback.
Against USC on Sunday night, Amukamara was on the court almost the entire game, logging 48 of 50 total minutes, including playing into double-overtime. The senior guard showcased her toughness as well as she played through cramps in her hamstring and calf.
In that USC game, Amukamara poured in a game high 20 points, including 16 in the second half and overtime, once again allowing her team to overcome a second half deficit en route to a comeback win in double-overtime. Amukamara was particularly great in the two overtime periods, going 4-4 and hitting the basket that put Arizona State in the lead for good.
Amukamara was extremely efficient on offense as well, going 14-23 from the field on the weekend, including 11-17 in the second half or overtime.
This is Amukamara’s second time being named Pac-12 player of the week this season, making her and Oregon State’s Ruth Hamblin the only two players to earn the honor twice.
