In a game that the No. 25 Arizona State Sun Devils needed to win, they took No. 5 Oregon into extra innings, but could not out last the Ducks, dropping their ninth straight game.

Redshirt junior pitcher Kelsey Kessler started the game for ASU although her outing did not last long, as she was chased from the game in the first inning.

The Ducks got three runs in the inning, two coming via senior outfielder Kora Costa’s home run.

Sophomore pitcher Breanna Macha would come in and shut down Oregon after Kessler got pulled.

The Sun Devil offense answered right back in the bottom of the first when senior second baseman Nikki Girard tripled in two runs.

Neither team would score again until the bottom of the fourth when redshirt sophomore Margaret Stahm drove in a run on a bloop single to right field.

Macha finally cracked in the next inning giving up a solo shot off the bat of Costa into left field.

Sophomore pitcher Dale Ryndak was called in to close off the rest of the game after Macha was pulled.

In the bottom of the seventh inning senior center fielder Jennifer Soria tied up the game at four a piece and it would send the game into extra innings.

The game would not stay tied for long, though, as senior catcher Janelle Lindvall knocked a three-run home run into left field.

The Sun Devils tried to mount a rally in the bottom half of the inning getting a runner on second, but ultimately could not, falling by a score of 7-4.
