The Arizona State women’s soccer team will travel to Seattle to take on the Washington Huskies Thursday. The Sun Devils come in at (5-4-3), (0-2-1) and look to find their first conference win of the year in the Evergreen State.
“We are all super strong together and we’re all bonding together,” sophomore forward Natalie Stephens said. “I think as a team our attitude going into this weekend we just need wins at this point. We have nothing to lose.”
The Devils are coming off a 1-0 loss to Colorado, in Tempe, in which they struggled to find their rhythm.
“I actually thought we did better with our shot selection and what we tried to do against Colorado,” head coach Kevin Boyd said.
Thursday’s game will be the first of a two game road trip concluding Sunday against Washington State.
“There’s not a significant amount of changes we have to make,” Boyd said. “We’re trying to play the right way, we know what we want to do, we just need to make it a little better across the board.”
The Huskies find themselves in a similar situation to the Sun Devils. After three Pac-12 match-ups, Washington is 0-3.
The Huskies are led by junior forward Shannon Simon. Simon leads Washington with a team best five goals.
“It’s not an easy game by any means,” Boyd said. “Our success rate in Washington has not been great, that’s a really hard place to play.”
The game is set to kick off Thursday at 4:00 p.m. on Pac-12 Network.
