ASU Lacrosse: Tournament time looks steady for No. 8 Arizona State

The No. 8 Arizona State men’s club lacrosse team takes on No. 21 Arizona this Saturday in a game that had playoff implications for ASU coming into the week.

However, after San Diego State University’s loss to UNLV, the Sun Devils can take a breather as they are now locked into the 2-seed in the SLC tournament.

The Sun Devils would have held any tie breaker had they finished with the same record as the Aztecs due to their 14-8 head-to-head victory over the squad earlier this season.

Who ASU will play, however, is to be determined.

As the second seed, ASU will host a game against the 3-seed from the North division in the SLC tournament.

That 3-seed could actually be any of the three teams at the top of the North division, all of which are duking it out for the 1-seed in their division.

Chapman sits at 9-5, with Claremont right behind them at 8-5. UC Santa Barbara is third with a record of 7-4, but not out of the bunt just yet.

Chapman will close out its season against UC Santa Barbara in a game that could truly shake up the standings in the SLC North.

IF UCSB WINS:

A UC Santa Barbara win would hoist them up to the 1 seed, as they would hold a tie breaker thanks to an 18-4 win over Claremont and the potential win over Chapman.

Claremont, then, would be the 3-seed and would come to Arizona State for their first SLC tournament game.

IF CHAPMAN WINS:

If Chapman wins, things will likely look exactly like they do right now: Chapman will secure the one-seed, Claremont would likely be the 2 seed and ASU would host 3-seed UCSB.

Arizona State will be playing the waiting game to see exactly who they will host in the SLC tournament, while looking to keep things rolling against Arizona this Saturday.
