ASU Lacrosse: No. 8 Sun Devils welcome the No. 21 Wildcats in a rivalry matchup

This weekend, the No. 8 Arizona State men’s club lacrosse team will host the No. 21 University of Arizona club team in Glendale, AZ, for the matchup that both teams have been waiting for.

Both teams understand the importance of the rivalry and the importance of the game. ASU has been preparing for this game all week, including the coach.

“ASU versus U of A,” said Coach Todd MacRobbie. “We’re not worried about playoffs for now, we just got one more game in front of us and that’s what we’re worried about. We just got to go out and win this one.”

As much as he’d like to disguise it, Coach MacRobbie is definitely caring about his team’s performance this weekend, and so is team captain Rhett Rodgers.

As ASU continues to prepare for the Wildcats, they must realize this game could be a season changing game for them. ASU is playing very good lacrosse as of late, going 5—1 in their last six games, versus the University of Arizona, who has gone 2-4 in their last six games. The Wildcats are 5-7 thus far on the season, and a win against high seeded ASU could give them some great hope going into the SLC Tournament.

ASU realizes the stakes and appreciates the challenge just as much as U of A does.

“We have to want to bet them more than they want to beat us,” said senior attackman Rhett Rodgers. “That’s how we’re going to win.”

Regardless of the stakes, it will be Arizona State Sun Devils versus University of Arizona Wildcats, which ASU coach Todd MacRobbie labels as, “ASU versus U of A, ain’t nothing better than that,” in an end of the season match-up that no one should miss.
