ASU Men’s Club Lacrosse: 20 goals help power the Sun Devils over Utah Valley

With eight different goal scorers the Arizona State men’s club lacrosse team showed depth as it dominated the Utah Valley Wolverines 20-9.

Senior attackman Rhett Rogers and junior midfielder Ryan Bradway scored 5 goals each, and sophomore attackman Jake Marthens had another hat trick.

Utah Valley drew first blood at the start of the game before goals by Marthens, Bradway, and junior attackman Tommy Carrasco gave the Sun Devils the lead.

When the Wolverines cut the lead to one freshman midfielder Emerson Roth scored with 13:29 in the second making the score 4-2.

Rogers found the back of the net then assisted Bradway for two consecutive goals, extending the lead to 7-2.

With a minute left in the half there was a power outage, and play stopped. When the lights came on, the Sun Devils finished out the second half with two goals in the final 10 seconds of the half, one from Rogers, and then Bradway scored his fourth goal of the game with 2.3 seconds left in the first half making the score 10-4 in favor of the Sun Devils.

Rogers scored a man up goal to start the third quarter, and then one offensive possession later scored his fourth goal of the game with 8:43 in the third quarter. The Sun Devils continued to pump in goals the rest of the way as the score was 16-6 headed into the fourth quarter.

In the final quarter sophomore faceoff specialist Trevor Driscoll scored the first goal of his career.

Head Coach Todd MacRobbie played lots of guys in this game including sophomore Cameron Moore in goal and senior captain Chris Roufanis also saw some action between the pipes.

A player who made the most of his playing time was junior attackman Montana Giffen who scored a hat trick with assists from junior midfielder Kyle McAllister and sophomore attackman Vito Diperte.

The Sun Devils would finish the night pumping in a season high 20 goals.

After this win the Sun Devils now have a record of 4-4 and will play the Utah Utes Friday March 10th, at 7:00.
