Arizona State will play ACHA Liberty in Tempe on Saturday night in a one game exhibition.
Liberty enters the matchup at 12-15-1. For the Sun Devils, last weekend’s two ties brought their mark to 5-22-2.
For Liberty, there have been no shortage of close games this season – the team’s scoring margin sits at -0.67.
“They [Liberty] always play hard,” head coach Greg Powers said. “They’re a proud program, they have a really successful tradition there and they didn’t come all the way to play one game to get their teeth kicked in.”
In the ACHA, Liberty has enjoyed success as of late, earning the No. 11 seed in last year’s tournament and the No. 4 seed the year before that.
For the Devils, the ACHA line comprised of Liam Norris, Ryan Ostertag and Ryan Belonger has been pivotal in all the team’s ACHA exhibition’s this season.
“They seem to play well here at Oceanside,” Powers said. “I don’t know if it’s just comfort or whatever but they did it against Alberta and Ohio so it was good, it was really good to see. Obviously I want Liam to go out playing good hockey, we owe a lot to that kid.”
In net, expect Ryland Pashovitz to get the start, as he’s been the go-to guy all season.
The Sun Devils will take on ACHA Arizona next Friday in Tucson, and then finish up their season with two games against the U18 U.S. National Team.
Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
