The Sun Devils traveled to Michigan Tech this weekend and split a series with the Huskies after the Sun Devils reigned victorious over MTU in the Ice Vegas Invitational championship in January.
Friday: Michigan Tech 1, Arizona State 2 (OT)
The Sun Devils hung on through 60-minutes to push the Huskies into overtime.
ASU goaltender Joey Daccord made 30 saves to shut down the Huskies and kept the Devils in a position to remain top-dog.
Johnny Walker opened up the scoring for the Devils in the second period, but it was Jacob Wilson that gave the Devils the game-winner for his third goal of the season.
Saturday: Michigan Tech 5, Arizona State 3
The Sun Devils recorded 14 penalties in the game. Though the Sun Devils often find strength in their special teams unit, the Huskies were able to double up on the power play and capitalize twice on it.
While Johnny Walker recorded a three-point game, coming back from a two-goal deficit wasn’t enough to spare the Devils. The freshman forward took two pucks to the back of the net while the other goal was scored by Anthony Croston.
David Norris also recorded two assists in his 100th career NCAA game.
Following the end of regulation, a fight broke out on the ice between players and staff from both teams. Video shows ASU head coach Greg Powers and assistant coach Alex Hicks involved in the physical altercation.
Anyone looking for footage of the fight here is part of it.
ASU coach Greg Powers said Tech coach Joe Shawhan was “bush league” and his behavior was “unacceptable.” Shawhan said he was just trying to go talk to the opposing coaching staff with no bad intentions. pic.twitter.com/sFE5IorEGJ

An ASU spokesman told Cronkite Sports that “it wasn’t started by us.” Further details on why the incident started were unavailable.
