Arizona State hockey dismissed forward Jordan Masters on Wednesday for undisclosed reasons, team officials said.
Masters was the Sun Devils’ leading scorer last season with eight goals and 14 assists.
This is just another twist and turn in what has already been a roller coaster season for the sophomore. He was limited to seeing ice time in just eight games this year due to an early season suspension for a violation of team rules.
“We just came to the conclusion that it wasn’t the right fit and we wish him the best,” ASU head coach Greg Powers said.
Prior to his dismissal, Masters put up two goals and two assists while primarily playing on the first or second line this season.
Arizona State will host the second annual Desert Hockey Classic over the weekend in Prescott Valley, Ariz. The Sun Devils will face Brown on Friday and either St. Cloud State or Connecticut on Saturday.
