The Arizona State Gym Devils will begin their Pac-12 schedule Saturday as they travel to Berkeley, Calif. to face the No. 15 California Golden Bears.
The Gym Devils are looking to come back from a loss last Saturday against UC Davis, a meet in which the team collected a 193.225.
The Bears are coming off a win at home last weekend in a tri-meet against Washington and San Jose State. The Bears posted season-high scores on both the beam and the bars.
Cal junior Toni-Ann Williams, who competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics for Jamaica, remains the biggest threat on the team. Williams has already taken home a team-high four event titles this season and is the defending Pac-12 Specialist of the Week.
For ASU, junior transfer Nichelle Christopherson has made the biggest impact through three meets this year. Christopherson won titles on the beam and bars against UC Davis, scoring a 9.800 on both apparatuses. Christopherson was also nominated for Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 24.
Last week ASU struggled with falls and hops. On the uneven bars the Gym Devils suffered two falls and finished was an overall score of 48.075. They also had a fall on the beam resulting in a 48.125 for the event.
The meet will begin at 7 p.m. at Haas Pavilion and will be televised live on Pac-12 Network.
