Arizona State finished off North Dakota State in straight sets to complete their weekend sweep in Utah.

The Sun Devils (3-0) outscored the Bison (0-3) in the match 75-49 including an 11-1 to end the second set.

The Sun Devils stayed hot going into the third set. An early 9-0 run put them up 14-5 and they never looked back winning game three by a score of 25-16.

Macey Gardner showed why she earned preseason All Pac-12 honors.  The outside hitter had 19 kills with her sole hitting error coming from the back row. Sun Devils’ head coach Jason Watson praised her work in the nightcap game.

“It was our third match in two days. We lacked a little sense of urgency.  Macey carried us to a win over North Dakota State,” Watson said. “Macey was hot, so we pushed her the ball.”

Those kills began from the hands of setter Bianca Arellano. The sophomore transfer had 40 assists in the match, and did a nice job of spreading the ball the entire match.  Nora Tuioti-Mariner, BreElle Bailey, and Whitney Follette combined for 23 kills.

Back row players held their own too. Defensive specialists Stephanie Preach and Shannon McCready combined for 31 digs, compared to the entire Bison team’s 40.
