After beating USC on Friday night, Arizona State’s hopes of hosting a regional looked as high as ever, but recent poor play caused the committee to choose against selecting them. The Sun Devils will instead be on the road once again for regional play.
Their recent surge in Pac-12 play boosted their resume, but their overall body of work just wasn’t strong enough for them to host a regional at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
Not only did the Sun Devils come up empty, but no team in the Pac-12 or on the West Coast as a whole was chosen to host.
ASU will likely conclude the regular season at 34-21, as they are trailing the Trojans 31-9, marking the first time they have surrendered over 20 runs in a game since 1998.
