ASU Baseball: Fehmel and the OSU offense crush ASU in game two.

Oregon State (16-1) toppled Arizona State (9-9) 10-1 behind a masterful start from Bryce Fehmel (3-1).

Fehmel completely shut down the Sun Devils offense, mirroring Luke Heimlich in game one.

The Beavers put the pressure on freshman left-hander Spencer Van Scoyoc from the first inning on, knocking him out after just 4.1 innings. Van Scoyoc (0-1) recorded his first loss of the season.

Jake Godfrey and James Ryan also struggled in relief allowing six combined runs over 2.1 innings.

Nick Madrigal, KJ Harrison and Michael Gretler led the Beavers offense in the combined dismantle of  the ASU pitchers.

Oregon State looks to complete the sweep of the Sun Devils on Saturday afternoon.

Player of the Game: Bryce Fehmel. The sophomore right-hander followed up Luke Heimlich’s fantastic start with one of his own, going eight innings allowing one run on four hits.

Unsung Hero: Nick Madrigal. The sophomore who’s batting .429 hit the second pitch of the game for a double and that led to the Beavers putting two runs on the board in the first. He reached base five times going 3-for-4 with a double, two walks and four runs.

You Knew It Was Over When: The Beavers knocked in seven runs after six innings, ASU didn’t seem to have a chance the way Fehmel was pitching.

Stat of the Day: ASU has given up the first run in the past five games.

Biggest Concern: The defensive issues continued for ASU. While the defense only accounted for one error, there were several plays that should have been made by the Sun Devils, but the execution wasn’t there.

What’s Up Next?: Arizona State will wrap up the series against the no. 2 ranked Beavers tomorrow on Saturday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 12 PM.
