The No. 15 Arizona State Sun Devils have yet to drop back-to-back games this season. However, that streak is in major jeopardy as they square off against the No. 5 Stanford Cardinal.
ASU is coming off a surprising 19-point loss to the Arizona Wildcats in which they shot just 31.9 percent and turned the ball over 20 times. Arizona’s win was its first in Pac-12 play.
The Cardinal is also coming off of an upset defeat. It came at the hands of the Washington Huskies. They were held to 34.6 percent shooting, and the loss was the Cardinal’s first in conference play.
Three weeks ago, in their first meeting, the Cardinal bested ASU by 24 points in Wells Fargo Arena. Cardinal senior forward Chiney Ogwumike led all players with a dominant 30 points and 16 rebound performance.
ASU at one point trailed by just four points in the first half, but Stanford came out with a 9-0 run in the second half to pull away.
The Sun Devils were led by freshman forward Sophie Brunner’s 12 points and 11 rebounds, her fourth double-double of the season.
The game will tip-off in Palo Alto, Calif., at 8 p.m. (MST). The road game is part of the final stretch of Pac-12 games for the Sun Devils that includes four games away from Tempe out of the last six.
