Arizona State faces Vanderbilt aiming to maintain winning streak

Arizona State (5-2) is preparing to take on Vanderbilt (2-4) in Tempe for the third game of their four-game home stand. The Sun Devils are coming off a 16-10 win against Mercer, while the Commodores lost their last match to Louisville 13-9.

The Sun Devils are currently on a two-game win streak and are looking to extend it to three on Saturday. They currently sit undefeated at home and have outscored opponents 50-23 in front of the Inferno.

In their previous meetings, the Commodores have barely scraped by with their victories, but with their slow start to the season, the Sun Devils have an opportunity to capitalize, and claim their fourth home win of the season.

Junior attacker Teagan Ng is a constant threat for the Sun Devils as she fires through the defense of every opponent they encounter. Ng added three more goals to the goals column against Mercer, bringing her total tally on the season to 24 in just seven games.

Ng leads the Sun Devils in goals (24) and second in points with 28, behind teammate and fellow junior  attacker, Jordyn Behar with 39.

Behar is also an taliswomen who has been making her mark on the team. Behar leads the team in points with 39, and assists with 27. Behar also is coming off an outstanding game against Mercer, where she tallied 6 points on the night with 5 assists and one of her shots finding the back of the net.

While junior attacker Lydia Oldknow has also been a consistent force for the ASU offense, she was left goalless for the second time this season after scoring four times on her revenge tour against St. Joseph’s after also being left goalless against USC.

This is the first time in her time as a Sun Devil that she has been left goalless for two games in one season since her freshman campaign.

Although she personally did not add to the scoreboard againsts Mercer, she did not go pointless as she tallied an assist.

On the other side of this tale, for the Commodores, it is graduate midfielder Brooke Baker that holds the offensive power. Baker currently leads her teammates in goals with 16, and is second in points with 17.

Team leader in points for Vanderbilt comes in the form of graduate attacker Jaime Biskup. Biskup has 18 points on the season after missing her senior campaign due to injury. She also is second on the team in goals with 13, just sitting behind Baker.

In net for the Commadores this season is junior goaltender Molly Joyce. The 2025 season is Joyce’s first season as a starter and has started between the pipes in all six contests so far.

In 180 shots faced, she has a save percentage of .444 with a goals allowed average of 13.05.

This would be a big win for the Sun Devils, as they are trying to flip the script and bounce back from a somewhat disappointing 2024 season. This win would mark them 6-2 in the record book and 4-0 at home before having their last home game before a two game road trip.
